Earning A Few Karma Points

Every summer we have a company picnic, but this year we decided to do something a little different. Don’t get me wrong, there was a picnic, but we started the day off by volunteering at the Oregon Food Bank at their Beaverton location. I’ll admit that using the day to give back isn’t always the most fun, but I was pleasantly surprised as to how amazing the day was.

We started out in a room where we were welcomed and given instructions as to what we were actually doing. We were to work in the cold room, which was deliciously cold. We were weighing out 2 lbs. of frozen carrots and green beans to be given out to needy families with other items mixed in. The whole process took about 2 hours with prep time added in. It was quick and very enjoyable. You get to work with people who simply want to give back to the community and earn some of your own karma points in the process.

Please consider volunteering yourself, or merely donate some money to the cause. It’s a fantastic program that helps hundreds of families every month.

You can visit the Oregon Food Bank website and sign up to volunteer or make a donation.
